What is a webring?
“A webring (or web ring) is a collection of websites linked together in a circular structure, and usually organized around a specific theme, often educational or social. They were popular in the 1990s and early 2000s, particularly among amateur websites. [...] By the time Yahoo stopped controlling webring.org in 2001, search engines had become good enough that web rings were no longer as useful.” [Wiki]

Why?
This is a nostalgic experiment.
Each month, we each set aside a little time to upload something (a short blog post, a picture, a link to something). This should take less than 20 minutes for someone to interact with (i.e. if linking to a book, recommend some pages. Or if showing a youtube video, recommend a section).
On the last Thursday of the month, we each check and interact with the other content in the ring.
More info:
Each website owner should:
- Include a webring navigation bar (buttons that link to the previous and next sites in the ring)
- Host a place on their website where webring members can comment
- Update their website at least once per month (>1hr per month)
- Participate in monthly discussion with other web ring members via comments sections on their websites (>2.5 hr per month)
- Websites could be hosted on other platforms (e.g. wordpress, flickr, are.na, neocities)
- Boycott Wix if possible
- Sites can be private, but other webring members should be able to see updated content
- Websites should be free to access (no patreon sign ups)
